Kolkata, INDIA – July 20, 2007 : MAT3 Impex Pvt. Ltd. is the Open Source and Embedded Systems development company (Head office: Kolkata, India and Managing Director and CEO: Masami Okano) released the first version of its own Linux distribution in Bengali for the people of Bengal. MAT3 U Bengali Linux 1.0 (hence forth M3UB Linux 1.0 in abbreviation) is a Linux distribution which is especially for the native Bengali users. It’s beauty is that, the installation process is also in Bengali.

In M3UB Linux the entire application menu is in Bengali language, this includes some principal application like Open Office, Fire Fox and the mail client etc. So this operating system will have the accessibility to all the Bengali known people and they can learn the computer in their own mother tongue. MAT3 Impex has surveyed that the computer education in Bengali language is booming in West Bengal (The computer education has been started in WB Govt. affiliated schools in 2002 with the technical collaboration of NIIT, WIPRO and IBM). We expect that all levels of students and other native users who are more comfortable with their own language will be benefited by M3UB Linux and in near future this will move over to Bangladesh too.

We have developed M3UB Linux for the Bengal. One thing to mention here is that this is a free distribution i.e. any body can have this by downloading it from our official website without any cost. This can be used in small schools and preschools for education, daily mail, Web application in Bengali and for the Bengali native market business. We think the computer is for the mass and not for only English literate people. We hope that M3UB Linux will narrow the gap of digitally divided society.

Technically this product is a Debian Linux distribution and Ubuntu6.06 is used as the base system. Its compatibility between software and hardware is like Ubuntu6.06. Furthermore the security update is also identical with Ubuntu6.06.

MAT3 Impex is established in West Bengal of India, and majority of the people use Bengali as their mother language. Though English is used in most of the international as well as some national businesses, but the people love to think as well as dream in their respective mother language. This is same like other states as well as countries too. Due to the growing economy as well as rapid development and lowering of PC prices the application of computer has rapidly grown which was unexpected even 5 years back in West Bengal. Nowadays Computers are used in Small scale and local businesses, different levels of educational institutions, IT based instructional systems, shopping malls, Health & Hospitality sector (different level), application of arts and design, news sector, personal hobbies, freelancing etc. i.e. it is almost an integral part of our daily life. In near future most of the applications will be in respective regional languages which will create a great appeal to the people and this is very much necessary to make a society truly IT literate like other non English speaking first world countries in the world.

The mission of releasing MAT3U Bengali Linux is to spread the user friendliness of personal computer to all levels of people in the era of industrialization and modernization. As M3UB Linux provides everything in Bengali (starting from installation to use of office application) so it will be more appealing to the common people and more over people don’t have to pay any price for purchasing this product. In future our Linux distribution will be released in other regional languages as well.

The present version is available in CD (Rs.300 with installation support for 3 months ) as well as down loadable (free of cost & without any support service)from our official website www.mat3impex.com. MAT3U Bengali Linux can be downloaded from July 20th. The sales will start in August.
